Spring Photography Workshop |
|
May 10 - May 25, 2000 This Workshop Has Been Completed For information on future workshops in Ottawa e-mail Garry |
This course is designed for photographers of all levels of technical ability who wish to become more proficient in making photographs using colour slide film and 35mm SLR cameras (Note - on all of the current workshops, D-SLR's are now being used). The aim of these workshops is to teach you how to see creatively, and to use that vision and your imagination to create images that capture the essence of the scene. The program will cover a variety of topics; with emphasis on design and the visual elements of a photograph, such as tone, colour, shape, line and texture.
The workshop will consist of one 3-hour classroom session per week and day-long weekend field trips. The classroom sessions will include instructional slide programs, individual reviews of material shot on the field trips and group critique of every student's work. The field trips will help to perfect your technical skills and most importantly, provide you with an opportunity to learn how to use and organize the visual elements in creating a photograph. We will be going to various locations around the Ottawa area during the field trips and you will have the opportunity to photograph such things as cityscapes, landscapes, spring flowers, wildlife, waterfalls, nature and one of my favourite attractions in the area Upper Canada Village. The field trips will be held at various times of day, for example, sunrise or sunset, to illustrate the varying qualities of light, which can be used to enhance your photography. One of the major benefits of the field trips is the opportunity to apply the instructional guidelines from the classroom sessions to your own creative style of photography. Both David and Garry will be present for the classroom sessions as well as the field trips.
Two workshops will be given, one on Wednesday evenings at the Focus Centre, 254 Bank St., the other on Thursday evenings in Garry Black's studio at his residence in Orleans. Each workshop consists of 3 evening classroom sessions, once a week for 3 consecutive weeks and 4 days of field trips, which will be held on the weekends between the classroom sessions. The field trips will be 6 to 8 hours in length each day. Starting times of the field trips will vary, as we want to have a shoot at sunrise as well as a sunset and twilight shoot.
ENROLLMENT
Tuition for the workshop is $350.00 GST INCLUDED. To register for one of these workshops, please complete the form, indicating which evening you prefer and return it with a deposit of $100.00.
